FMB interacts with Karonga customers - 07/November/08

First Merchant Bank (FMB) Karonga Branch on the evening of 1st November hosted a get-together party whose main objective was to know their customers and interact with them in a social setting.

FMB Karonga Branch manager Stephen Kanyika said apart from knowing the customers, the bank also wanted them to know the products they offer.

"Since we opened this branch on 10th March this year, we have had no time to know our customers, so we felt this was our chance," he said.

And speaking to customers and prospective customers, Kanyika said that apart from providing the usual savings and current accounts, FMB also provides Makwacha card which allows farmers to cash their money even in remote areas with no auto-teller machines (ATMs).

"The Makwacha card is a pin-protected online debit card which can be used at any FMB ATM or any of over 60 mini ATM-GSM point-of-saie terminals situated at merchant stores in rural trading centres throughout the country.

"The card can be used to buy goods at merchant stores or withdraw cash at either an FMB ATM or merchant, stores," said the manager.

:Kanyika said FMB emphasises on customers being first in its delivery of services. "I am proud to tell you that FMB is the only bank that provides cheque books to people holding savings account. This is big achievement for the bank," he said.

He also said that the bank has a gold savings account which provides personal accident insurance scheme.

Speaking at the same function, Traditional Authority Kalonga hailed FMB for recognising Karonga for business. Kalonga said the place has many opportunities which the bank could exploit for its benefit and that of the people.
