FMB launches monthly ball pool - 02/February/2010

First Merchant Bank (FMB) on Friday launched a monthly ball pool at Country Club Limbe (CCL). The ball pool is to be played every last Friday of the month up to the end of the year. CCL stand-in captain Vaju Morzaria thanked FMB for coming in to sponsor the ball pool which has not been played at CCL for over two years.

In response, FMB vice-chairperson Hitesh Anadkat thanked the committee for accepting FMB's proposal to sponsor the monthly event. "I would like to thank the committee for allowing us to sponsor the ball pool which will be played every last Friday of the month up to December 2010. I played today and the course is in excellent condition. "Talking about FMB, we have always been perceived as a bank for big clients but now we have grown and have changed our direction. We are also serving individuals regardless of how 'small' they may be," said Anadkat.

At least 38 golfers braved the rains and took part in the tournament. Willet Karonga emerged the winner of the event with a very brilliant score of 23 stable ford points. Playing off 19 handicap, Karonga practically played five under his handicap.

In his winner's speech, Karonga thanked the sponsors for coming in to sponsor the event. In runner-up position was Shiraz Karim with another brilliant score of 22 stable ford points. Karim plays off nine and his score represents four under his handicap.

There were only two clubs and these went to W Vensic and the ever improving Noel Lipipa. They pocketed Kl 500 each
