On Thursday, the12th April 2018, FMB hosted the FMB U-20 League Pre-launch Cocktail and Media Awards. The event was attended by various stakeholders from FAM (Football Association of Malawi), NYFA (National Youth Football Association), Malawi National Sports Council, the media as well as FMB Management and staff. The occasion was two-fold; it was organized as a preamble to the launch of the 2018 football season which will take place in Salima on the 22nd of April, 2018. In addition, the event also awarded various media personnel for their outstanding coverage during the previous season for the following categories:
- Best Print journalist
- Best Photo journalist
- Best Radio reporter
- Best Online journalist
- Best TV reporter
- Best Community Radio reporter
The FMB U-20 Football League is the biggest youth football league in Malawi and with 144 participating teams in total across 14 districts. This season, the sponsorship towards the league has been increased from K24million to K30million and this has led to the addition of Dwangwa and Salima to the league. The continuance of this sponsorship is due to the indisputable positive impact that the league has on the development of Football in Malawi. This new season promises a lot of excitement and quality football from young disciplined players who are eager to become football stars.
